Research group Acuity Market Intelligence has reported that the market for Automated Passport Control (APC) Kiosks has “exploded” over the past two years.

The group states that rapid deployment of APC Kiosks over the past two years has seen them spread to 42 locations within 37 airports, with more than 1,000 APC Kiosks now in daily use in the US and Canada.

According to Maxine Most, Principal at Acuity Market Intelligence, "The market for APC Kiosks has exploded over the past two years achieving a CAGR of more than 70%. While the US and Canadian markets are approaching saturation levels, the rest of the world remains a largely untapped opportunity.

“The US Department of Homeland Security's May 29, 2015 announcement that they have entered negotiations to extend pre-clearance to 10 airports in nine countries in Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean is a huge boon for the APC Kiosk market."

Most reports that two vendors have driven this extraordinary growth in APC Kiosks. "The dominant vendor is Vancouver Airport Authority - the original developer of APC Kiosks - with 688 APC Kiosk deployed at 25 locations representing a 66% market share. SITA is a distant second at 20% market share with 210 units at 10 airports. The remaining 137 units at seven airports are divided among four additional vendors."

The group has produced an "APC Kiosk Deployment List", which lists each known deployment including the number of units, locations, installation date, vendors and costs.
