The UK Home Office is looking to procure face matching software and associated services as part of the Home Office Biometrics (HOB) programme.

The office seeks Matcher Engine Software (MES) — a combination of biometric algorithm software and associated components that provide the capability to match a biometric facial image to a known identity.

A $5.9m contract for the facial recognition software has been tendered for the MES. It runs for an initial term of 60 months.

The MES will integrate with the HOB's Biometric Matcher Platform Service (BMPS) which supports multiple biometric modalities and multiple data sets (which include, but are not limited to, immigration, citizenship, law enforcement) as part of the HOB programme.
