Thai bank Krungthai Card has released a new app featuring enhanced biometric options - iris and fingerprint.

Tosapong Rangkawara, KTC’s vice president – credit card business, said on Tuesday that members can now login or make transactions through the TapKTC mobile application using the fingerprint scan, and the brand-new biometric iris recognition with the Samsung Pass service.

"KTC is Southeast Asia’s first and only financial institution, and the third in the world, to endorse this technology in collaboration with Samsung,” he explained.

Current users of the Samsung Galaxy models with the infrared iris recognition feature, including the S8, S8+ and Note 8, can access this technology from today onwards.

Abiding to the Bank of Thailand’s policy, users’ biological information will be securely stored in the FIDO (Fast Identity Online) Cloud and will not be stored in smartphone devices.
