IDEMIA – previously known as OT-Morpho – has been selected by the National Civil Registry of Colombia (Registraduría Nacional del Estado Civil de Colombia – RNEC) to update its identification and civil registry platform.

The RNEC wants to strengthen this platform – which holds biometric and alphanumeric data and ensures the uniqueness of identities – by adding new services for the government and citizens.

This latest contract builds on IDEMIA’s longstanding working relationship with the RNEC. The firm will enhance the capacities of the platform and provide technological and functional upgrades. It is also implementing an additional biometric security feature using facial recognition to make user identification easier and more secure.

“We created this platform 20 years ago and are committed to make continuous improvements. Our system is recognised worldwide as an effective and robust identification and civil registry system,” says RNEC director Juan Carlos Galindo.

“RNEC is a leading provider of identification services to Colombian public and private agencies and we are proud of this longstanding partnership,” says Jessica Westerouen van Meeteren, executive vice president, Citizen Identity, IDEMIA. “Our objective is to support RNEC in its evolution with a permanent focus on citizen satisfaction and service.”
