Senior Afghan officials have said an election biometric system was purchased from Dermalog.

A statement from the National Procurement Authority (APA) quoted Elham Omar Hotaki, head of APA, as telling a press conference that they prepared 22,000 biometric devices for the upcoming elections.

The German government has also assured about quality of the devices and biometric system as Germany’s Ministry of Finance (BUNDESDRUCKERE), also supported and controlled the contract, the source added.

The statement said the 22,000 devices and a central biometric system cost a total of 18 million euros provided by the government of Afghanistan.
