The Planet Biometrics conference and exhibition (part of Identity Week 2019) and the European Association for Biometrics (EAB) have announced a comprehensive, strategic partnership for this year’s event.

As part of this wide-ranging agreement, Michiel Van Der Veen, the EAB’s Chief Executive, will become Planet Biometrics Conference Chair.

Mark Lockie, Identity Week’s Conference Director, said: “We are delighted that EAB’s Board has agreed to partner with us for Planet Biometrics 2019 – and in particular we welcome Michiel as our Planet Biometrics Conference Chair. EAB’s extensive expertise and thought leadership comes from its diverse membership, which includes government, commerce, industry, and academia.”

As a unique authentication and identification tool, biometric technologies are providing benefits across all areas of industry, government and consumer applications. However, the technology is not without its issues – including high-profile societal issues, and on-going technological and practical implementation considerations.

Planet Biometrics 2019 will bring together the leading minds in the industry during the three-day event, all of who are passionate about ensuring biometrics are implemented in a secure, convenient and privacy-enhancing manner.

Michiel Van Der Veen commented: “The EAB is a leading voice for digital ID and biometrics in Europe, so it is a natural fit for us to partner with such a high-calibre identity event. We shall be lending our extensive expertise to the Planet Biometrics 2019 programme, and are looking forward to welcoming our network to take part in June.”

Planet Biometrics 2019 forms part of Identity Week London, and sits alongside SDW 2019 and Digital:ID 2019. More than 3,000 attendees are expected to attend the overall event, along with 230 exhibitors, from more than 80 nations.

The event takes place at ExCeL, London, on 11-13 June.
